Teleconsultations for Veterinarians are Now Available!

VetDERM Clinic is dedicated to providing continued guidance and support for dermatological and ear care for pets. Our online consultations will help your pet patients and their families by addressing skin or ear concerns thoroughly, including itch control, allergy work up, long-term allergy management, discussion of individualized treatment options, and dietary advice. Our veterinary dermatologist can also help you understand the severity of your pet patient’s ears and skin and how best to assist in managing their conditions, so that recurrent problems or progressive chronic complications do not arise.

All veterinarians can benefit from furthering their education on matters such as pet allergy, dermatological, and ears management and treatment for their patients. Teleconsultation removes the barrier of pets seeing a dermatologist directly and allows family veterinarians all across BC to work with our staff and pet dermatologist, and help patients with dermatology and allergy care expertise if it may not be available to some patients directly by visiting our vet dermatology and ear clinic. The main goal of all professionals involved in VetDERM Clinic’s work is to keep our pet patients as comfortable as possible and improve their quality of life.

Our values at VetDERM Clinic are to be caring, knowledgeable, trustworthy, thorough, innovative, and supportive, not only to veterinarians but also to the pet families they serve. To support these values, we have decided to initiate teleconsulting for veterinarians at once for their clients and pets that may not be able to see our veterinary dermatologist directly. Some examples where the situation applies are:

  1. The pet lives outside of the Lower Mainland and travel is difficult due to pet or family consideration.
  2. As part of VetDERM Clinic’s fear-free principles, if a pet cannot go to the dermatology clinic due to anxiety of travel, anxiety of veterinary exam, etc.
  3. Patient health or pet owner health-related inability to come in for direct consult and dermatology examination.
  4. Triage through the veterinarian to assess if a patient will benefit from seeing a dermatologist, including the benefits of a specialty dermatology examination.
  5. Obtaining a short-term treatment plan for the pet, to help bring relief to a pet before they can come to see our dermatologist and dermatology team.

Together, we can be the first line of educating our clients on how to best address ear or dermatology concerns in pets, thus helping them improve their pets’ skin or ear problems as well as improving the pet’s quality of life.

How It Works

It’s very easy for veterinarians to use our teleconsultation service. Simply follow the instructions below.

  1. Contact reception by phone or email.
  2. Submit all forms and information required, as outlined by the team.
  3. Send pre-payment of your online consult’s fee via e-transfer.
  4. Book an appointment date and time with reception.
  5. A Zoom invite will be sent to you via e-mail once the appointment is scheduled. (For video-based consultations only)
  6. For phone based consultations we will call your preferred number at the time of the appointment.
  7. Communicate with Dr. Bajwa at the scheduled time. We look forward to seeing you at the scheduled time!
  8. A written report will be sent to you following the phone or video appointment within 5 business days; or within 5 business days of submission of the case, in terms of e-mail submissions.
